Hydrogen has a vital role to play in the holistic approach needed to decarbonise Britain’s homes, according to an open letter sent to UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak from a group of leading academics, reports H2 View.
The academics from leading Universities across the country highlighted the need for a ‘balanced approach’ to the future of heating homes and achieving net zero targets. Emphasising ‘there was no one size fits all solution’ and by ‘forcing a single option’ this could work to ‘alienate’ consumers.
Professor Nilay Shah, Professor of Process Systems Engineering at the Imperial College London was reported in H2 View saying; “Public support for Net Zero is high, but there are numerous independent studies that show that, when it comes to reducing the impact of home heating, the picture is significantly more complex.”
