Hydrogen is set to play an essential role in Britain’s energy future, providing locally produced and low-carbon heat and power to millions of homes. Yet, to ensure this is successful, the safe use of hydrogen must be assured.
That is why the DNV has built ‘Hy Street’ as its testing facility in Cumbria. This project will establish what the transition from natural gas to hydrogen could look like and ensure that it is safe to use in the home.
The DNV is an independent organisation and the hydrogen research is ongoing and covers all sectors including the repurposing of the gas networks.
